Grant Funding
WMAIA, in partnership with our Copper Sponsor PELLA, is proud to announce that we will be kicking off an initiative to award grants in the amount of up to $250 each to Emerging Professionals in Western Massachusetts who are furthering their architectural career.

Who is an Emerging Professional?
For the purpose of this program, Emerging Professionals (EP’s) are:
1. Individuals who are WMAIA Associate Members and have completed their academic studies
2. MA Licensed Professionals who are WMAIA Members and have been licensed for less than 10 years
2. Graduate Students who are currently enrolled in an accredited architecture program located in Western Massachusetts

Award Frequency
• Six grants will be awarded annually on a rolling bi-monthly basis beginning March 01, 2024
• Applicants are eligible to receive 1 grant per year and are encouraged to reapply annually
• Applications will remain active for one calendar year so applicants have an opportunity to receive the grant for up to one year after submitting their initial application

Qualifications
• Applicant must be an Emerging Professional in the field of Architecture
• Applicant must live/work/attend school in Western Massachusetts (Berkshire, Hamden, Hampshire or Franklin County)
• Applicant must be a Member of WMAIA in good standing or a student in an accredited architecture graduate program in Western Massachusetts. Not a member? Associate AIA dues are waived for the first year after graduation.

Award Considerations
• Priority will be given to first time applicants and to those whose firms/schools do not cover any costs towards EP related expenses
• Individual has attended Chapter EP programs and/or has participated in Chapter events

Possible Award Allocations
• Study Materials
• ARE Licensing Exam
• Conference Registration
• Architecturally Affiliated Membership Dues (Examples: NCARB, NOMA, LEED etc.)
• Professional Development (software subscriptions, research initiatives, academic/professional resources, design competition submission fees, community outreach/activism, etc.)

Additional Information
WMAIA EP Grant awardees will be required to provide WMAIA with a brief synopsis and/or photo depicting the use of the WMAIA EP Grant which will be used by WMAIA to promote this initiative in the quarterly newsletter, enews and/or and website.
Grant award funds will be distributed as a reimbursement to awardees once receipt of purchase for specific grant allocation has been submitted to and reviewed by WMAIA Executive Board.
