SUMMARY:TOUR: Bousquet Mountain Lodge
DESCRIPTION:Register Now!\nTuesday June 11| 4:00-6:00 PM| In Person |1 LU (maybe HSW\, approval pending) \nTour: Bousquet Mountain lodge\, Pittsfield MA\nTour & social hour. \nBousquet Mountain’s new 18\,000 square foot\, mixed-use lodge replaced the original 1941 building\, which had its share of structural and safety challenges over the years\, was taken down in order to make way for the construction of the new lodge. The design entailed an innovative approach to building orientation and location\, resulting in vast natural light\, views of the mountain\, and direct connections to the outdoor recreation. This seamless indoor/outdoor environment was enhanced by large scale south-facing glazing\, a building form influenced by the surrounding landscape\, and indoor vertical connections by way of a second floor mezzanine. Returning visitors are pleased to enjoy the simple\, modern\, state-of-the-art spaces catered towards its occupants; a new restaurant and bar\, multipurpose space\, ski and board rental shop\, offices and ski school\, ticketing\, and event spaces – all of which dramatically improve and pay homage to the original mountain and lodge loved by so many in the Berkshires and surrounding regions.\nPresenter: Allegrone Companies\, Architect and Builder \nFor more information and to register visit here. \nSponsored by Pella

SUMMARY:WIA Panel Discussion: Women\, Gender and Architecture in Denmark
DESCRIPTION:SAVE THE DATE!\nA registration link will be sent soon \nWomen\, Gender and Architecture in Denmark: A  Panel Discussion\nFriday November 10 |Noon| In person |1 LU approval pending\n \nUMass welcomes Henriette Steiner and Svava Riesto\, authors of UNTOLD STORIES. WOMEN\, GENDER\, AND ARCHITECTURE IN DENMARK for a panel discussion based on their book\, which tells a new story about twentieth-century architecture in Denmark. For the first time ever\, readers get an overall picture of the key contribution made by women to the architecture of Danish welfare society in the period 1930–1980. The book’s five chapters present hitherto untold stories about how architecture comes into being through creative collaborations that cut across genders and professional disciplines. Women have contributed to all aspects of architecture\, from kitchens and buildings to landscape architecture and urban planning\, and their stories highlight the hidden diversity that has shaped Denmark’s buildings\, cities and landscapes. The importance of this diversity must be understood and appreciated in the present if we are to create new ways of living and building in the future – a pressing need in light of the many crises we face as a society today. \nThis UMass Program is supported in part by WMAIA Women in Architecture \nWMAIA’s Women in Architecture Programs are Sponsored by

SUMMARY:TOUR: Maier Camerlenghi House
DESCRIPTION:Thursday May 18 | 4:00 PM | In person |1 LU \nWMAIA Women in Architecture presents\nTour: Maier Camerlenghi House \nA WMAIA 2022 Honor Award Winner by Naomi Darling Architecture\, South Hadley\, MA\, the Maier Camerlenghi Addition/Renovation is a second story addition and renovation of a mid-century home in the center of Amherst\, MA for an academic couple with need for a home office as well additional bedrooms for their growing family.Respecting the original design\, the addition inserts a vertical two-story library volume and light scoop along the existing chimney. SUMMARY:REGISTER NOW: Springfield Technical Community College - Student Learning Commons TOUR

RUBENZAHL STUDENT LEARNING COMMONS\, SPRINGFIELD MA\n1 HSW  \nSponsored by: MARVIN \nCOVID Protocol:This is an in-person tour.  We will adhere to CDC and college guidelines at the time of the event.  Please bring a mask just in case.  The tour will be followed by a reception\, weather and/or Covid protocols permitting.  This program is limited to 50 participants \nProgram Description\nDesigned by Ann Beha Associates the LEED Silver Student Learning Commons at STCC was designed by women-led architect\, landscape architect\, and engineering firms – we are pleased to offer this tour as our 2022 Women in Architecture Program. \nAs the only technical community college in Massachusetts and with an annual enrollment of over 7\,000 students\, Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) offers unparalleled education and career programs. STCC was founded in 1967 and is located on 35 acres within the Springfield Armory National Historic Site. Because the campus is part of a National Historic Landmark and the National Park System\, work on STCC’s historic buildings and campus is subject to review by state and federal agencies\, as well as the National Park Service. Constructed in four phases from 1846 through 1863\, Building 19 originally served as a storehouse for the Springfield National Armory and has been unoccupied for 150 years. ABA’s design for a new Student Learning Commons in the building integrates modern building systems and structural upgrades while maintaining the historic character of the existing building. Programs are consolidated into four major “hubs” for student and academic services. The Student Enrollment and Academic Advising Centers simplify enrollment processes and consolidate access to student services that were previously housed in multiple buildings on campus. The Learning Commons combines the college’s library with instructional spaces\, tutoring\, and information technology services. The Student Life Center animates Building 19 with student life and daily activities\, providing a café\, bookstore\, and meeting areas for students to study and socialize at the new heart of their campus. \nThe Student Learning Commons project received numerous planning\, design\, and preservation awards\, including an AIA New England Citation Award\, a SCUP Excellence in Planning Honor Award\, a SCUP Excellence in Architecture Honorable Mention\, a Robert H.
