The 2012 WMAIA Design Awards were presented at a luncheon at the Smith College Alumnae House, Northampton, MA on December 14, 2010.
Seventeen projects were submitted to this year's awards program. Awards were given by the jury to eight of those projects.
The "People's Choice Award" was awarded by popular public vote, at the reception for the
“Be Local, Build Local” exhibition, held at the A.P.E. Gallery in Northampton, MA from December 4 - 14, 2012.
General Jury Comments:
- The jury found that the small, humble projects, that seemed to be more direct, were also the most powerful.
- The jury members applauded the entries for their emphasis on sustainable aspects of projects, and their concern with energy use.
- The jury found that the most successful projects were the ones that had to struggle with a challenge in order to be successful.
