UMass:  Gordon Hall, Amherst, MA

Designer:  Sigrid Miller Pollin AIA

Two three-story, cedar clad office “sheds” merge to form a double height triangulated skylit central atrium space.  The design creates a social science research facility that provides both quiet private research offices for faculty, graduate students, and visiting scholars from around the globe as well as spaces for group discussion, conferences and informal exchange.

The client wanted very pragmatic office spaces and a non-institutional sense of place as well as much natural lighting and ventilation as possible.

Designer:  Charles Roberts AIA

The new design center is a 2,200 sq ft fancy shed addition to the existing retail store and was constructed using off the shelf materials supplied by Cowls Lumber. It contains display space for kitchen and bathroom design.  It is open to the original store but also has its own entrance so it function separately.
