TRAINING SMALL DESIGN FIRMS for LOCAL HOUSING AUTHORITY PROJECTS

This workshop provides training for sole proprietors and small design firms to establish qualifications for working with Massachusetts Local Housing Authorities (LHAs). DHCD is currently seeking qualified architects and engineers to provide professional design services directly to LHAs for “small” projects estimated to be under $100,000 in construction cost and having a design fee of less than $10,000. Attending this workshop will put your firm on a path to working with LHAs!

LEAD PAINT REGULATIONS: WHAT ARCHITECTS NEED to KNOW

This presentation will provide a comprehensive review of both federal (HUD and EPA) and Massachusetts lead based paint regulations and how these regulations pertain to architectural practice. Topics covered will be include the HUD Lead Safe Housing Rule and its various requirements for different HUD-sponsored housing programs, the Massachusetts Lead Law and the requirements of both the MA Department of Health and Department of Labor Standards. The differences between federal and Massachusetts inspection and abatement practices will also be covered, as well as the new EPA and MA Lead Safe Renovator rules.

CLASS: INTRODUCTION to REVIT
When: Weekly, May 20 - June 28
Where: Online
Revit Architecture is a popular software program for building design and documentation; more architects and building professionals are interested in learning how to use it. This course is offered by the UMass Architecture Department through the UMass Continuing & Professional Ed. division. There are no prerequisites, and it is open to all, including undergrad and grad students, and practicing professionals. It is online, so participants can watch the lectures and do the work when they choose to; there are no set lecture times. There will be weekly class material and homework assignments.
