WMAIA AWARDS 2010 - Call for Entries
Submissions are due by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at this address:

Awards will be presented at the WMAIA Annual Meeting in December.
Eligibility: Buildings of any building type, anywhere in the world, completed at any time in the last 10 years (after January 1, 2000) by architecture firm or architect-of-record which currently has its principal office in Western Massachusetts (Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden and Hampshire counties). AIA membership is not required. Eligible projects may be new construction or renovations and may be projects for private or public clients. Un-built projects will be judged in a separate category. Projects that previously received awards through this program are not eligible. Any eligible architect/firm may submit any number of qualifying entries provided each is submitted separately with the appropriate fee described on the back of this sheet.
Criterion: The foremost judging criterion is design excellence. The jury is empowered to determine the extent to which design excellence is informed by sustainable, regional, contextual, social, or other characteristics.

Build Boston and Residential Design & Construction PHOTO EXHIBITS: Call for Entries
Architects, landscape architects and interior designers practicing in New England are encouraged to submit photographs for consideration in the photo exhibits at Build Boston and Residential Design and Construction, where tens of thousands of professionals and potential clients will be able to view your work. Submissions are due July 30, 2010.

AIA 2009 New England Design Awards - WINNERS!
The results are in! Photos of the award winning projects are on the AIA New England website. Four Honor Awards, 11 Merit Awards, and 3 Special Mentions were announced October 3, 2009 for the AIA New England Regional Design Awards, hosted this year by AIA New Hampshire. 271 Entries were submitted, and an additional 57 entries were made for the separate People's Choice Awards.

Joint WMAIA / AIA National Scholarship Awarded to UMass Student
Dorrie Brooks, a second-year graduate student in the Architectural Studies Program at UMass, Amherst, recieved a $1,000 joint scholarship from WMAIA and AIA National. Read more about it on page 4 of the WMAIA newsletter.
